New York Surf Soccer Club Expands to Long Island
New York Surf SC Welcomes Kurt Kelley and Atletico F.C. in an agreement to bring Surf Soccer to Suffolk County
New York Surf Soccer Club is pleased to announce its formal entry into Long Island as well as an innovative youth development agreement in Suffolk County with one of Long Island’s most elite and successful developmental Suffolk-based soccer clubs, Atletico F.C. and its founder Kurt Kelley. New York Surf Soccer Club will provide the most talented Long Island players with the most elite and comprehensive player development program, including Suffolk-based New York Surf SC boys and girls teams for the 2016-2017 season.
Atletico F.C. NY will serve as the main feeder club for NY Surf Soccer Club’s Suffolk-based teams.
“New York Surf is extremely excited to expand into Long Island, which has long had a reputation of producing some of the best youth soccer talent in America. Through our agreement and close working relationship with Atletico F.C. and Kurt Kelley, we will provide Long Island players and their families with a Suffolk-based development academy program and elite level teams,” said Matt Popoli, NY Surf President. “Suffolk-based NY Surf teams will have all of the benefits of the full Surf player development experience including the nationally recognized Surf Select program, Surf’s unique youth partnership with Manchester City FC, Surf’s College Placement Office, and a pathway to the National Team and professional soccer play opportunities for its best players. With our upcoming June tryouts for Suffolk-based NY Surf teams, we are eager to begin the process of identifying Long Island’s top youth players.”
The agreement includes close collaboration in several areas, including player development, training & coaching, facilities, as well as planning for the future New York Surf tournaments.

New York Surf is currently evaluating several expansion options for Nassau County.
